BHOPAL: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped, axed and pushed into a 40-feet deep well, by three people in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday night.She was rescued from the well by villagers, who reached after being informed by her younger brother allegedly saw the rapists throwing her into the well. The incident occurred at Kethokar village 65km from the district headquarters — under Harpalpur police station. Chhatarpur SP Lalit Sakhyawar said, “We have recorded her statement. Senior police officers have been asked to investigate the case,” The survivor has sustained deep and fatal wounds on her head and is admitted at district hospital. One of the suspect identified as Phoolchand was arrested immediately after the complaint was lodged, said police. Two others allegedly involved in the case — Harshyam and Khalak — are on run. All three — aged 20 to 25 years — are residents of same village, and Phoolchand and Khalak are brothers. The accused forced into her house finding her alone at around 10.30pm and raped her taking turns. Her father was in jail on charges of a case of attempt to murder, said sources adding the accused and the survivor’s family had an old enmity.
