Girl Power!

Girl Power!

When a girl says “No”, it is a clear No! No man has a right to rape a girl, to harass her or to physically harm her. Like men, women do have feelings, thoughts, emotions and ambitions. A man cannot simply ruin it for his needs. Why is it that a girl who wishes to go out of her home is asked to sit at home and cook instead? Why is the society playing with their ambitions and goals? When a girl is raped why is she asked to be at home and not to face the society; even when it is the men’s mistake? Girls we really need to show our real power!

A girl needs to gain more strength to face this evil society. From years we have yearned to see a change in the society but its high time now to bring upon the changes! A girl should know how to fight with the society for her own needs and justice. She should learn to get the strength to do what she wishes to and not what she is forced for! She should show the society that she can be a daughter, a wife, a mother and ‘the fighter’ too. Girls if rather than bitching or gossiping about the other girl in a problem; try to understand and support her; it may lead to a glorious win. “United we stand and divided we fall” should be the motivation of girls today. Only a girl can understand and help other girl and save her from the norms of the patriarchal society. More the girl power lesser will be the victims!

Recently programs like “Halla Bol” and “The Heroes” have encouraged girls to demand justice and to fight back the problems they are facing. These problems are not just the basic problems but are crimes. If a girl complains against harassment, rape or acid attack, the acid attackers or the person who raped will be punished or may be sentenced to death according to the new law. Recently, a movie “Gulaab Gang” starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla aims to encourage women. The movie is purely based on power of women and on their journey to get justice. Girl power is a necessary thing in the society now! Each girl should be aware of the happenings in the society. As a girl, let us take an oath to firmly believe in girl power and empower it. Go win the world with the girl power!!         ———— About the Author: This article has been contributed by Erika Nandwani, our intern.
