Karva Chauth: Funny day but it should be a holiday. What say?
It’s funny how we as a society believe that keeping fasts for our husbands’ would give them a long life. The United Nations research states that men with the longest life expectancy are from Japan, followed by Switzerland. Then, all this while, why were we taught that women starving for their husbands on Karva Chauth is meant to give these men a long life? Ahh…it all went in vain. There are 146 countries above us where the men have longer lifespans! It’s difficult to change the mindset of our society which believes that a wife must keep Karva Chauth for her husbands’ long life. If Karva Chauth gives long life, why don’t men too fast for their wives? Anyway… Till the time we change the mindset, let’s sign this petition, demanding a holiday for women, on this day when they have to travel in the crowded metro and then work for 8 hours straight on an empty stomach and parched throat. Fair enough! Sign this petition here.
