Ranjit Sinha joins the insensitive Leaders Crowd!
In the process of people fighting for women’s equality, there are a number of eminent insensitive leaders we have to deal with! I really pity the women who deal with these men directly! Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Ranjit Sinha has joined the insensitive leaders crowd who have come up with several outrageous ‘rape’ remarks. This man just raised a controversy and has nearly put himself in danger by comparing legalizing of betting in sports to ‘enjoying rape’. He said that if one can’t prevent a rape, then one should enjoy it. He made this comment while speaking on why betting should be legalized in India. Can you believe that? Had this man been my son, I would have punished him so badly, that the whole generation after him would have known what a woman can do? He says- “What is the harm if we legalize betting, above all do we have enforcement agencies? It is very easy to say… It’s like if you can’t prevent rape you enjoy it, so it’s better to have it legalized and earn some revenue,” said Sinha on Tuesday in the backdrop of the conference held in New Delhi to celebrate 50 years of the CBI. I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I read this, but unfortunately, this is true.
Rape is a sensitive issue, which deals with woman who suffer most of the time. And these women are a part of our own society, our own family. So, why don’t we value them? These leaders must resign if this is how they have to make statements. From the President’s son to party leaders, politicians have been freakingly talking against women and rape. Here is what some leaders said: Abhijit Mukherjee: While most of us remember what he said, this is just another reminder. Abhijit Mukherjee, son of President Pranab Mukherjee, said on Christmas day that “highly dented-painted” women visited discotheques and then appeared at India Gate to protest the Delhi bus gangrape. Dude, your statement makes no sense? Stop victim blaming for God’s sake! Anisur Rahman: And look what the CPI-M leader Anisur Rahman had said for the victims of rape and trafficking and all such evil acts. “We have told the chief minister in the assembly that the government will pay money to compensate rape victims. What is your fee? If you are raped, what will be your fee?” asked Anisur Dec 25. Get some brains man! Mohan Bhagwat: Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS Chief who made brainless statements about how Rape in ‘India’ differs from Rape in ‘Bharat’. He claimed that the incidents of rape are the result of adoption of western culture in society as a whole… “Crimes against women happening in urban India are shameful. It is a dangerous trend. But such crimes won’t happen in Bharat or the rural areas of the country. You go to villages and forests of the country and there will be no such incidents of gang rape or sex crimes,” he had said.
He blamed western culture for influencing people! I am sure there are a lot of people who agree with him, and certainly another lot of people who don’t. Kailash Vijayvargiya: The BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya commented on a recent conversation about sexual harassment cases in the country, with Madhya Pradesh in particular, he said: “Ek hi shabd hai – maryada. Maryada ka ulanghan hota hai, toh Sita-haran ho jata hai. Laxmanrekha har vyakti ki khichi gayi hai. Us Laxmanrekha ko koi bhi par karega, toh Ravan samne baitha hai… woh Sita-haran karke le jayega”. (Whenever people cross their limitations, deterioration is bound to happen. It applies to everyone in the society. Whoever breaches the line, he/she will confront a Ravan) The minister’s remark drew sharp reaction from political parties as it triggered protests in the state and across nation causing major embarrassment for BJP. Botsa Satyanarayana: Another rock star, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana termed the Delhi gang rape incident a minor one and he asked the need for women to be out at midnight. He later withdrew his statement. “Just because India got freedom at midnight, is it necessary for women to move on the streets at midnight?” he asked. I couldn’t really imagine this in my wildest dreams! Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar: Senior Trinamool Congress leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar speaking to a news channel said, “If you’re referring to the Park Street rape, see that is a different case altogether. That was not at all a rape case. It was a misunderstanding between the two parties involved between a lady and her client. This was not a rape.” She made this comment while reacting to another obscene comment made by senior CPI (M) leader Anisur Rehman on chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Ashok Singhal: After RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks that rapes were prevalent in India and not in Bharat, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad blamed the ‘western model’ of lifestyle for growing incidents of sexual assault on women including rape, saying cities were losing the values. VHP international advisor Ashok Singhal termed as “alarming” the western model of living, which he said had been imbibed from the US. “This western model is alarming. What is happening is we have imbibed the US. We have lost all the values we had in cities,” Singhal told reporters in response to a question on the growing rape incidents in the country. He particularly faulted the live-in relationship style when he said “it is not only foreign to our culture, but also hostile.” Virginity was preserved. But the purity has been totally disturbed (now)…we are losing it,” this is what he said. Puducherry government: Most of us are not aware but the Puducherry government has reportedly suggested redesigning of school uniforms to make it mandatory for girl students to wear overcoats to prevent sexual crimes. I wonder what harm they would get if they suggested teaching the sons of India not to rape. Asaram Bapu: None other than, Asaram Bapu who is still being preached by a millions of people raised another controversy when he said the December 16 victim was equally responsible for her own rape.
He could have escaped the situation by calling the rapists as brothers and plead them to leave her. I just have no words for this self-proclaimed Godman!
