International Women’s Day – Is It About Being A Feminist Just For A Day?

Yeah, It’s International Women’s Day today! Again the time for encouraging women, spreading good thoughts and beautiful phrases about them has arrived, just for a day. Obviously we get hundreds and thousands of forward messages, motivational words and inspirational thoughts of great women in the form of debates, talks and so on. But ‘What is the use in praising women just for a day and ditching them otherwise? Knowingly or unknowingly we have been suppressing women for years.

Even though we read many articles and books for knowing women and trying to understand them, we do fail at times in giving them their own space and rights. The best creatures on earth, women, are too stuck up with patriarchy. Midst several confusions both within her mind and in the outside world, her life is not a piece of cake. This article is to give a gentle push reminding all of us what steps should be taken to make women across the world live a patriarchal-free life.

  1. Help Her Equally In The Household Chores:

Though she can manage everything single-handedly, she’ll never reject any kind of help that lessens her burden. Don’t you think managing the financial expenses and household work both is a job of  man and woman both!

  1. Give Her Some Space:

Yeah, you love her and you are concerned for her. But that doesn’t mean that you have to keep a watch on whatever she does. Limitless love can be there, but don’t let it become an obsession. If she wants to be alone, then let her be. If she needs a personal break or sometime to spend alone, never hesitate. There may be certain things which she can’t share with you. Instead of stressing her to speak out, the best way is to give her a personal space and confidence by which she may speak everything out.

  1. Listen To Her problems:

Of course, everyone needs a shoulder to rest their head on, and someone who could hear their problems and tell them that everything is going to be okay! It doesn’t mean that she needs your guidance all the time but she needs a trustworthy friend and a caring lover.

  1. Don’t Be A Bystander In The Way Of Sexism:

Needless to say, don’t be a sexist. Further, don’t be a deaf in the way of sexism.  Trolling a girl on social media is the harshest of all sins you can do to a girl. Oppose all those vulgar posts against girls irrespective of who is posting it. Don’t support gender biased jokes, abuses or people.

  1. Don’t challenge her financial independence:

Paying the bills when you take her on a date or for a dinner is obviously good. But only if you give her a chance to! Equality is the key. And of course, she can pay bills too.
